Producing top rugby teams
Millfield Preparatory School is considered to regularly produce one of the strongest 1st XV Rugby teams in the country. We play against the top rugby schools and our opposition has come from as far afield as Torquay Grammar School in Devon to St. Olave’s in York.
Highly experienced coaching staff
Our coaching staff have all played the game to a high level and are all very experienced with recognised coaching qualifications.
Nurturing and developing talent in a safe and controlled environment
We introduce rugby to our seven year old boys (Year 3) in a sensible and controlled way ensuring maximum safety and enjoyment. They are then coached up through the age ranges until they reach Year 8 where they are able to demonstrate their skills to a quite remarkable degree of excellence.
We field at least two teams, though more often three at most age groups. So the majority of boys can, if they so wish, represent Millfield Preparatory School on the rugby field.
During the Spring Term we play seven-a-side rugby at U11, U12 and U13 age levels. Here again we have achieved great success in regularly reaching the final of the highly prestigious National Seven-a-Side Tournament which is held at Rosslyn Park.
