Religion and Spiritual Life
Multi-faith
We foster a spirit of understanding and tollerance of all faiths. Although assemblies are Christian in their nature they focus on those ideas and values which are held in common by the world's great religions: love of our neighbour, care for our environment and the development of each child's spiritual awareness.
Rev. Allen - a Chaplain to everyone in the School community
The Rev. Richard Allen was appointed School Chaplain in September 2002; previously he was Rector of Christ Church, Exmouth, which had a large student and youth ministry. Training at St. John’s College, Nottingham, prior to ministry he taught PE and Geography. Richard is married to Harriet who teaches in the Junior Department at Millfield Preparatory and they also have three children in the School. Richard is very much a Chaplain to everyone in the School community; those with faith and those without. The Chaplain is a lover of all sports and coaches a number of School teams. He lives to be out and about around the School campus especially on the sports field. You can always stop, talk and share.
Services and Assemblies
Chapel services are held on alternate Sunday mornings with speakers coming from a wide spectrum of Christian Churches. Year chapel services are held on Tuesday and Friday mornings and Pre-Prep once a week too. School assembly for the whole School is held on Thursday mornings which the Chaplain leads. There is an annual Confirmation Service at Wells Cathedral in March which a number of pupils prepare for throughout the year. Classes are held in the evenings at the Chaplain's home, Homestead.
