Berewall used to be a farmhouse then became a small hotel/guest house. It then became a Millfield Prep School boarding house around 16 years ago. It has an excellent location - the most beautiful setting away from the school, yet close enough for easy access. Outside at Berewall there is a tennis court, a tree swing and loads of space. Maximum capacity 36.
Karl and Jane Leonard have been Houseparents since 2009. Karl is physics teacher at the senior school, where he also coaches football and cricket. Karl has taught for 10 years. He initially worked in the pharmaceutical industry and returned to college to study for a degree in physics with astrophysics. He subsequently worked for an animal charity before settling in Somerset and becoming a teacher. Jane was a bank manager for 27 years before taking up the role of housemother in 2009.
Karl's interests include cooking, cars and classical and rock music (he has played in several bands, done European tours and played at Glastonbury). He also enjoys football and cricket. Jane is a keen cyclist who cycled for the GB team when she was younger. They have three children, Charlotte, Oscar and Harriet.
