Boarding
Millfield Preparatory School has 5 comfortable and well-facilitated boarding houses all either on or very close to the main campus. Each has its own character, being single sex with age-appropriate bedrooms and range in size from 25 – 38 beds. These houses are run by a married couple who have children of their own and who strive to create a warm and relaxed family atmosphere for the boys and girls from all over the world who are in their care.
They are ably supported by a resident assistant and a visiting tutor who are also teaching members of staff and a host of house matrons. The houses are regularly visited in the evenings by the Headmaster and his wife. At the weekends there is never a dull moment and the children are spoilt for choice. There is always a full programme of organised games and activities, and trips out to places of fun and interest.
Exeats (Weekend Days Away)
We recommend four exeats per term for boarding pupils. Pupils may be collected at 12.10pm on Saturday, providing they have no further School commitments, and must be returned by 8.00pm on Sunday.
Two exeats are full weekends: ie from Friday 4.00pm until Sunday 8.00pm. These are usually the third weekend of the Autumn and Spring Terms but dates are notified well in advance and most children will go home or to Guardians.
Boarders are also allowed out on Sundays with parental permission.
