How do you promote good behaviour?
Children’s behaviour is moulded through positive encouragement. Our “sticker system” rewards “trying hard”, “being helpful”, “kindness to others”, “caring for others”, as well as academic progress. In this way, the children have a positive model to follow and an expectation of good behaviour is reinforced. Our celebration assemblies celebrate not only children’s sporting and academic achievements but also individual progress in a child’s personal and social education.
How would I know what is happening at the Pre-Prep?
Parents receive a weekly, highly informative newsletter which gives regular updates about forthcoming events, initiatives and relevant information. There are also two magazine-type newsletters per year, at Christmas and at the end of the Summer Term, which give a photographic account of the events of the term and contain contributions from the children. At the beginning of each academic year, a Hand Book is sent to parents outlining expectations for the year and explaining simple routines and timetables.
How are children supervised during playtime?
How are children supervised during playtime?
The children are supervised by members of staff throughout break times. Our Golden Rules are a vital part of positive behaviour in the playground.
What if my child finds the work difficult?
If a child is experiencing difficulty with aspects of school work at any time, the teacher will liaise with parents about supplementary tasks to try at home. Occasionally, children will need a little boost in certain areas of their education. Our Booster Group is set up to provide just that. Working with a specialist, children may join a small group of 2 – 3 children for approximately half an hour per day (2 – 3 times per week) to work on, for example, specific blends or sounds. The child’s time with this group may be transitory or more prolonged and is specifically designed to boost confidence and to reinforce understanding.
