Short Term Targets

  • Relocate eco notice board to a more high profile position within school- dining room would be ideal
  • Set up wormery in conjunction with compost bin in Science area
  • Recycling of certain food waste to compost bin and wormery- lunch to begin with as this will need monitoring
  • Set up and run book swop shop
  • Green video session – where, when and how often?
  • Establishing some kind of Environmental rewards/sanctions
  • Getting Green Matters! online on school website
  • Taking part in WWF initiative locally
  • Invite Jim Pendleton (Estates) to one of our meetings to discuss how he can help
  • Continue contact with David Warner and Mike Craig established last year

Medium Term Targets

  • Establishing an environmental policy within the school which becomes part of school handbook
  • Campaign for staff to re-use back of paper for photocopied sheets stuck into books and use double-sided for reading /work sheets
  • Completion of the nature trail with habitat boards and markers (already done by pottery club)
  • Promoting links with SWAP and RSBP- assembly, workshops, visits
  • Establish code of practice for school trips for recycling lunch waste
  • Promoting a greater awareness of environmental issues – new campaign to develop an ‘eco-conscience’- possibly launched by an assembly on dos and don’ts
  • Carry out audit of environmental education within our curriculum

Long Term Targets

  • Ensuring any new buildings have sustainable features such as renewable energy sources, rainwater collection etc.
  • Building a straw bale classroom, possibly as an environmental centre.
