The department attempts to:

  1. i. Help Students in their search for a meaning and purpose to life
  2. ii. Create an awareness and respect for the religious side of life
  3. iii. Discuss some of the basic moral issues in life
  4. iv. Encourage students to be tolerant and respect others
  5. v. Help pupils understand basic religious ideas

In Year 6 pupils undertake a basic Christianity course which looks at simple practices and beliefs as well as an introduction to the Old and New Testaments of the Bible, covering important stories.

Year 7 covers a variety of different Old and New Testament Bible stories with associated contemporary issues which enables pupils to apply knowledge to real life situations. Year 8 is a basic introduction to the six major world religions comparing and contrasting aspects of beliefs, worship, sacrid books, prayer etc.

Pupils now take an exam built on studies in Year 7 & 8.
