Junior Department
The Junior Department consists of three year groups Year 3, 4 and 5 which are led by Group Tutors who encourage communication between staff and parents to ensure a holistic approach towards our pupils’ learning.
Small classes provide an excellent pupil teacher ratio and ensure maximum learning potential for our pupils. The children are taught by their group tutors for the majority of subjects except for Music, P.E. and Games, Design and Technology, and Languages, which are taught by specialist teachers.
In the Junior Department the staff work as a close team to provide the children with a stimulating environment in which the children can learn. They are encouraged to develop their personal strengths and interests to the best of their ability. Being in our own self contained area allows the children to develop the confidence and security that fosters independence enabling adaptation to the extra curricular activities that the school offers.
The department offers a wealth of resources to develop the children’s individual talents including numerous educational trips such as Caerleon as part of their History topic, the Quantocks as part of Geography, and the Somerset Levels as part of their Ecology studies.
