Personal, Social and Health Education
Lessons for life
Since it was founded in 1935, Millfield has always believed in giving children a full, all round education, feeling passionately that education is about development of the whole human being. With that in mind, pupils have the chance to learn things about the world around them which they would not normally learn in normal academic classes, giving them the chance to develop and mature into young adults, and learn vital life skills which will be invaluable to them outside of the School walls as well as inside them.
Covering a wide range of topics
Each week pupils have a lesson in a small group which cover a wide range of subjects such as School life, how to cope with a new school and moving to a new environment, personal and social development, self esteem, health and hygiene, friendships and relationships, the human body, fitness, study skills, ecology, the environment, British Constitution, current affairs, citizenship, rights and responsibilities, morality, food and lifestyle, disabilities, safety, using the internet, customs and manners, listening and discussion skills, and global citizenship.
Appropriate teaching for appropriate age groups
Subjects are taught by a combination of Group Tutors and specialist tutors. Subject content varies according to what is appropriate for different age groups.
