Books, tapes, magazines and newspapers
The school has an inviting and well-stocked library, comprising over 10,000 items. There is an extensive collection of non-fiction material and a very up-to-date stock of fiction for the pupils to use and enjoy. Audio tapes and listening facilities are available, plus a wide selection of magazines and daily newspapers.
Friendly staff and easy to use computer system
Library staff are always on hand to help with research and provide assistance with fiction choices. Lists of recommended books and guides to authors and new fiction are available to help the pupils make informed choices. A computerised issue and enquiry system (Heritage) helps the children to become independent library users.
Throughout the year there are library related events – a Book Fair, National Children’s Book Week and visiting authors and storytellers. In recent years we have enjoyed meeting Alan Gibbons, Cliff McNish and Michael Morpurgo
