Academic Educational Support ICT Provision
ICT Provision
ICT @ MPS
What used to be desirable is now expected, recommended and even essential. IT provision is expected to be of a high standard, it is strongly recommended that pupils are IT literate to an impressive level and in an increasing number of areas in society it is becoming essential. In order to address this state of affairs MPS has worked hard to provide high quality ICT.
At MPS, we now have four networked computer rooms. There are networked PCs in all classrooms, 15 wireless laptops available to all departments as well as 7 wireless laptops in the Language Development Centre. The English Department has a mini-suite in its Resource Room and all boarding houses are on the school network. Boarders and day pupils can access resources at home and in their house by logging on to the Extranet.
However, hardware is not enough on its own and we are complementing it with extensive training available to all staff, this in turn provides further support to pupils. In order for pupils to access material efficiently, Year 7 pupils undergo an intensive touch typing course. There is extensive subject specific software as well as regular cross-curricular use of ICT.
Another aspect of school life which has been enhanced by ICT is the comprehensive recording of pupil progress and development, including assessments and pen portraits.
ICT at MPS is really playing a crucial part in many, many areas of school life.
