Time Rider author visits Millfield Prep
Successful author Alex Scarrow visited Millfield Preparatory School last week to give pupils advice on how to come up with story ideas.
The author has written the Time Rider series, which tell the story of three teenagers who are chosen to prevent time travel destroying history.
Their adventures take them back to many different eras, where they encounter other time-travellers who are trying to change the course of history.
During the visit, Scarrow entertained pupils from Year 5-8 with an energetic presentation and reading of the first chapter of his first book.
Pupils learnt about the butterfly effect, where slight variations in the sequence of world events could change the future for everyone.
He followed the talk with a fun-packed history quiz, where pupils answered questions about the World Wars, code breaking and the Romans. Scarrow ended by signing copies his novels for the excited pupils.
Librarian Vicky Hayes, who arranged the visit, said: "The pupils were really enthralled with Alex's imaginative description of time travel and the whole was enjoyable for everyone.
"The pupils all agreed that his visit was inspirational and left them with the motivation to start exploring his series of Time Rider books."
Scarrow's fifth book, Time Riders: Gates of Rome, is due to be published next February. To find out more information about the author visit www.time-riders.co.uk.
