Millfield Prep pupils selected for National Children's Choir

Two pupils from Millfield Preparatory School have been selected for the National Children's Choir of Great Britain after successful auditions last month.

Isabelle Barber and Harry Kemp, who are both 11-years-old, were accepted into the choir after stand-out performances at auditions in Birmingham.

The young singers were selected after hundreds of children from across the country auditioned.

Isabelle, who also plays the violin and piano, said: "I was very nervous during the audition but I gave it my best shot.

"It seemed like such a long wait to find out if I had been selected and I was really pleased and excited when I found out I had been."

Harry, a keen violinist and trumpet player, said: "I'm extremely pleased to be selected for the choir. I'm already looking forward to the first rehearsals, which should be very exciting.

The two pupils will start rehearsing next Easter ahead of their first performance later in the year.

Millfield Prep Director of Music Mary Webb said: "It is an outstanding achievement for Isabelle and Harry to be accepted into the choir.

"They have put in a lot of hard-work this year and I'm sure the experience will see them grow as individuals."

The National Children's Choir was founded in 1998 and gives children between the ages of nine and 14 an opportunity to work with experienced teachers.
